Chisumbanje (Green Fuel) Ethanol Project Conflict

Green Fuel is a joint venture between government and Mcdcom investments and Rating. Land ownership is at the center of the conflict. Local communities have lost their grazing, irrigation, cultural and farming land. Competition over the Save River Water, land, water and air pollution escalates the conflict. The Parliament Portfolio Committee has called for stringent environmental penalties and pushing for a 51% ownership by the community as part of the Zimbabwe Indigenous law Bill of 2008 to promote community empowerment objectives
